Steps:

Steps:

  • Use a marker to draw a simple flower center on your foam sheet.
  • Ask an adult to cut four narrow slits around the flower center using scissors.
  • Place the foam sheet flat on the table.
  • Have your child hold the foam steady with their helper hand.
  • Give them a pile of colorful, large buttons to use as petals.
  • Ask them to use their pinching fingers to push a button halfway into a slit.
  • Repeat until the flower has a full circle of colorful button petals!

Steps:

  • Draw a large fish shape on your piece of cardboard using a marker.
  • Help your child cut out the fish shape with the scissors.
  • Draw several colorful dots on the fish body to look like scale spots.
  • Give your child a sheet of aluminium foil to hold with both hands.
  • Ask them to tear off small squares of foil to make scales.
  • Squeeze a dot of glue onto each colorful spot on the fish.
  • Use pinching fingers to press a foil scale onto every glue dot.

Steps:

  • Help your child cut three small rectangles from the felt, fabric, and foil.
  • Glue one of these texture samples next to a small slot you cut in the shoe box lid.
  • Cut several more small scraps of each material and put them in a pile.
  • Ask your child to feel a texture on the lid first.
  • Challenge them to find the matching scrap from the pile using their eyes and hands.
  • Once they find a match, have them push it through the correct slot!

Paper Plate Axle Twist

Steps:

  • Use your markers to divide the paper plate into four colorful wedges like a pizza.
  • Ask an adult to help you use scissors to cut a small X in the center of the plate.
  • Tape one end of your paper roll horizontally to a wall at your child’s eye level.
  • Slide the paper plate onto the paper roll using the hole you made.
  • It should be able to spin freely like a wheel!
  • Use a marker to draw a small arrow on the wall right next to the plate.
  • Challenge your child to twist the plate to match a specific color to the arrow.
  • Ask them to use one hand, then try with the other hand to get both arms working!
