The Masking Tape Web Bridge
Purpose
This activity encourages your child to plan and build a sturdy structure. Pressing the craft sticks onto the sticky tape provides great sensory feedback for their hands. It requires them to use both hands together to align the sticks correctly. This helps develop the eye-hand coordination needed for complex tasks like writing. By building a bridge for their toy, they also practice problem-solving and spatial awareness. The resistance of the tape offers a heavy work sensation that helps calm and focus young minds.
Activity Steps
Steps:
- Find an empty shoe box and remove the lid.
- Stretch four strips of masking tape across the open top.
- Make sure the sticky side is facing up toward the ceiling.
- Give your child a pile of craft sticks to hold.
- Ask them to press one stick across two tape strips.

- Gently peel the sticks off to start the build again.
Safety Tip:
Always supervise your child to ensure the masking tape does not get stuck on their hair or skin.
