The Heavy Foil Bridge Balance

The Heavy Foil Bridge Balance

Why it helps

This game helps your child learn to use both hands together. Wrapping the foil around the stick requires focus and small finger movements. Balancing the bridge on the cups builds steady hands. Using the tongs to add pom-poms helps with the pincer grip used for holding pencils. It is a fun way to practice control and patience. Your child will love building their own sturdy bridge. This activity also builds strength in the small muscles of the hand. It helps prepare them for more complex school tasks later on.

Steps

  • Set two paper cups on the table five inches apart.
  • Give your child a craft stick and Aluminium Foil.
  • Show them how to wrap the foil around the stick.
  • Squeeze the foil with both hands until it is smooth.
  • Place this heavy bridge across the tops of the cups.
  • Use your tongs to pick up one fuzzy pom-pom.
  • Carefully set the pom-pom on the bridge without dropping it.
  • Use your helper hand to keep the cups still.
  • Try to see how many pom-poms the bridge can hold.
  • Switch hands and try the game again for extra practice.

Safety tip: Always supervise your child during play. Small pom-poms and Aluminium Foil can be a choking hazard.
