Addition Turtle

Why it helps
Create an Addition Turtle to promote writing, cutting, bilateral hand use, and pincer grasp. Choking risk: googly eyes can be a choking hazard. Stay within arm’s reach, and keep them away from children who still put things in their mouths.
Draw 2-inch squiggly squares on the back of the paper plate.
In each square, write an addition problem that equals 5 or 10 (for example, 2 + 3 or 6 + 4). The plate is the turtle’s shell. Have the child solve each problem and color the square yellow if it equals 5 and green if it equals 10.
Using a green construction paper, cut out the turtle's head shape, 4 legs, and a tail.
Glue the turtle’s head, legs, and tail onto the edge of the plate, then draw eyes or glue on googly eyes.
