The Hanger Puppet Parade

Steps:

Draw three colorful characters on construction paper using your markers.
Carefully cut out each character using your scissors.
Cut three pieces of yarn, each about five inches long.
Tie one piece of yarn to the top of each paper character.
Hold the hanger steady with your non-dominant hand.
Pinch a clothespin to clip the yarn to the bottom bar of the hanger.
Hold the hanger’s hook and move it slowly from left to right.
See your puppets parade through the air!

Safety Tip:
Adult supervision is required when using scissors and yarn to ensure safety.

Ribbon Bridge Button Slide

Steps:

Secure a large piece of cardboard to a flat table using masking tape.
Cut four pieces of ribbon, each about three inches long.
Tape both ends of each ribbon piece to the cardboard to create small, tight bridges.
Space the bridges out in a straight or winding line across the board.
Place a colorful button at the start of the bridge path.
Challenge your child to use their thumb and pointer finger to slide the button under each bridge.
They must push the button all the way to the end without lifting it off the cardboard!

Safety Tip:
Adult supervision is required. Small buttons are a choking hazard. Keep materials away from the mouth.

Pool Noodle Pincer Pillars

Steps:

Adult Step: Carefully use scissors to cut the pool noodle into four or five round discs.
Have your child place the foam discs flat on a sturdy table or the floor.
Ask your child to push one golf ball tee into the center of each foam disc.
Provide the tweezers and a small bowl of colorful pom-poms for the next part.
Challenge your child to use the tweezers to pick up one pom-pom at a time.
They must carefully balance the pom-pom on the very top of the golf ball tee.
For an extra challenge, ask them to move the whole disc to a new spot.
They must be very gentle so the pom-pom stays on its pillar during the move!

Safety Tip:
Adult supervision is required because golf ball tees have pointed ends. Ensure your child stays seated and uses the materials only for the activity.

Balloon Haircut Day

Steps:

Blow up a balloon and tie it securely.
Draw a funny face on the balloon using markers.
Cut several long pieces of yarn hair.
Tape the yarn hair to the top of the balloon.
Secure the balloon to a wall or door using masking tape at your child’s chest height.
Encourage your child to use safety scissors to trim the yarn hair.

Safety Tip:
Always supervise your child while they are using scissors. If the balloon pops, pick up the pieces immediately. Broken balloon pieces are a choking hazard.

Beaded Joint Dancer

Steps:

Draw a person or animal on construction paper with markers.
Cut out the head, body, and limbs as separate pieces.
Use a hole puncher to make a hole at each limb joint.
Punch matching holes on the shoulders and hips of the body.
Thread a piece of yarn through the holes to join pieces.
Tie the yarn loosely so the dancer can move its limbs.
Slide beads onto the yarn ends to add color and weight.
Use masking tape to hang your dancer on a door.

Safety Tip:
Always supervise your child when they use a hole puncher to prevent finger pinches. Keep small beads away from younger siblings to avoid choking.
