Cosmic Pincer Star Weave

Steps:

Cut a large, sturdy square out of your cardboard using the scissors.
Use your markers to draw a large, bright star in the very center of the cardboard.
Decorate the area around the star with small planet and galaxy stickers.
Use the hole puncher to create a ring of holes all the way around the outside edge of your cardboard square.
Cut a long piece of yarn and wrap a small bit of masking tape around one end to make a stiff ‘needle.’
Tape the other end of the yarn securely to the back of the cardboard.
Challenge your child to ‘weave’ the shooting star by pushing the yarn through a hole from the back to the front.
Have them pull the yarn across the center star and push it into a hole on the opposite side.
Continue this crisscross pattern until every hole has been used and the star is caught in a colorful yarn web!

Safety Tip:
Always supervise your child when they are using scissors or a hole puncher. Ensure the yarn length is safe for play and collected after the activity.

The Fire Breathing Dragon Tube

Steps:

Use your markers to draw a silly dragon face on the outside of the paper roll.
Tear the colorful tissue paper into long, thin strips that look like flames.
Put a few dots of glue around the inside rim of one end of the tube.
Press the ends of your tissue paper strips onto the glue dots carefully.
Glue two pom-poms on top of the tube to give your dragon big eyes.
Hold the tube to your mouth and blow hard to make the fire dance!

Safety Tip:
Always supervise your child while they are using glue and small pom-poms. Ensure the paper roll is clean and free of any staples.

The Beaded Plate Hair Stylist

Steps:

Use your markers to draw a silly face on the paper plate.
Squeeze the hole puncher to make holes around the top of the plate.
Cut pieces of yarn and tie one through each hole for hair.
Give your child a bowl of beads to hold.
Ask them to slide the beads onto the yarn strands.
Tie a small knot at the end of each piece of yarn.

Safety Tip:
Beads are a significant choking hazard. Always supervise your child during this activity and keep all small materials out of reach of younger siblings.

The Paper Cup Secret Sounds

Steps:

Line up six empty paper cups on a table.
Put a small handful of rice into two cups.
Fill two more cups with dry beans and the last two with oats.
Place an index card over the top of each cup and secure it tightly with masking tape.
Use markers to draw a small secret symbol on the bottom of each cup to mark the pairs.
Mix the cups up and ask your child to shake them one by one.
Challenge your child to find the two cups that make the exact same sound!

Safety Tip:
Supervise your child closely when using rice or beans to prevent them from putting items in their mouth.

The Noodle Button Tunnel

Steps:

Cut a piece of yarn about three feet long using your scissors.
Tie one end of the yarn to a sturdy chair leg.
Thread the other end through the center of a pool noodle.
Place your buttons in the aluminium foil pan at the start.
Hold the loose end of the yarn tight so it stays straight.
Ask your child to slide a button onto the yarn.
They must push it all the way through the pool noodle tunnel.
Have them drop the buttons into different baking cups at the finish line!

Safety Tip:
Adult supervision is required. Small buttons are a choking hazard. Keep all small materials away from children who still place objects in their mouths.
