The Card Link Arch
Purpose
This activity helps your child build hand strength and planning skills. It turns simple office supplies into a fun engineering challenge. By sliding clips onto thick cards, they work the small muscles in their fingers. Building the arch requires both hands to work together smoothly. It also teaches them to judge how much pressure to use. This is great for improving focus and hand-eye coordination. Plus, it is very rewarding when the bridge stands alone!
Activity Steps
Steps:
- Place the paper cup upside down on a flat table.
- Pick up two index cards with your helper hand.
- Slide a paper clip onto the edges to join the cards.
- Repeat this to make a long chain of four or five cards.
- Curve the cards over the cup to form a bridge.
- Add extra clips to the bottom of the end cards for weight.
- Slide the cup out slowly to see if the arch stays up.
Safety Tip:
Ensure the child remains seated at the table and uses only the craft materials.
