Laundry Basket Sailboat

Steps:

  • Place a large laundry basket on a smooth floor like wood or tile.
  • Have your child sit inside the basket with their legs tucked in comfortably.
  • Give them a long pool noodle to hold with both hands like an oar.
  • Show them how to push the noodle against the floor to move the basket.
  • Encourage them to alternate pushing on the left and then the right side.
  • Use masking tape to mark a start and finish line for the race.

Safety Tip:
Supervise your child to keep the basket from tipping. Make sure the floor is clear of toys that could trip them up.

The Textured Cardboard Path

The Textured Cardboard Path

Steps:

  • Help your child cut several long strips of cardboard to make the path.
  • Use masking tape to secure the strips to the floor in a straight line.
  • Glue small pieces of soft sponge and rough yarn along the path.
  • Ask your child to take off their shoes and socks.
  • Have them walk slowly while keeping their feet inside the cardboard edges.
  • Encourage them to describe how each section feels as they step on it!

Safety Tip:
Always supervise your child to prevent slips or falls while they walk on the textured path. Make sure the cardboard is taped down firmly to the floor.

The Balloon Body Bop

Steps:

  • Blow up a balloon and tie it securely.
  • Tap the balloon into the air to show your child how it floats.
  • Call out a body part like Hand and help them tap it.
  • Try a harder part like Knee or Head to keep the balloon up.
  • See how many times they can tap it before it hits the floor.

Safety Tip:
Adult supervision is always required when playing with balloons. Balloons and broken pieces are a serious choking hazard. Dispose of any popped pieces immediately to keep your child safe.

The Winding Rope Balance Walk

The Winding Rope Balance Walk

Steps:

  • Place the rope on the floor in a long, winding S shape.
  • Use masking tape to secure the rope at both ends so it doesn’t slide.
  • Put a step stool in the middle of the rope’s path.
  • Ask your child to walk slowly on top of the rope, keeping their feet on the line.
  • When they reach the step stool, they must step up and down without falling off the rope path.
  • Challenge them to walk the path backward for extra fun!

Safety Tip:
Ensure your child is wearing non-slip socks or has bare feet to prevent slipping. Keep the area clear of hard furniture while they are practicing.
