Stereognosis

The ability to recognize an object by touch alone, without looking at it. This lets a child find a specific toy in a toy box or a coin in their pocket just by feeling it.

To practice, hide small objects in rice, beans, or a pillowcase and have your child find them by feel. Mystery bags, sensory bins, and “guess what it is” games build this skill in a playful way.
