Balloon Waddle Race

Steps:

  • Use masking tape to make a straight path on a smooth floor.
  • Blow up a balloon and tie it for your child.
  • Ask your child to stand at one end of the path.
  • Place the balloon between their knees.
  • They must squeeze it to keep it in place.
  • Have them walk along the tape line to the finish.
  • If the balloon drops, they should reset and try again!

Safety Tip:
Always supervise children around balloons. Broken balloon pieces are a choking hazard. If a balloon pops, pick up the pieces immediately.

The Winding Rope Balance Walk

The Winding Rope Balance Walk

Steps:

  • Place the rope on the floor in a long, winding S shape.
  • Use masking tape to secure the rope at both ends so it doesn’t slide.
  • Put a step stool in the middle of the rope’s path.
  • Ask your child to walk slowly on top of the rope, keeping their feet on the line.
  • When they reach the step stool, they must step up and down without falling off the rope path.
  • Challenge them to walk the path backward for extra fun!

Safety Tip:
Ensure your child is wearing non-slip socks or has bare feet to prevent slipping. Keep the area clear of hard furniture while they are practicing.

Air-Power Cup Delivery

Air-Power Cup Delivery

Steps:

  • Blow up a balloon and tie it closed.
  • Cut a piece of string about two feet long.
  • Tape one end of the string to the balloon.
  • Tape the other end of the string to the bottom of a paper cup.
  • Place five beans inside the cup for weight.
  • Set the cup on a smooth floor.
  • Give your child a paper plate to use as a fan.
  • Challenge your child to fan the balloon with the plate.
  • They must move the balloon and cup to a target.
  • Reach the finish line without the cup tipping over!

Safety Tip:
Always supervise your child during play. Beans and broken balloons are choking hazards. Keep uninflated balloons away from children.

Moving Target Delivery

Moving Target Delivery

Steps:

  • Adult Prep: Use masking tape to secure the paper cup firmly onto the outside of the large ball. This cup is the moving target.
  • Place the buttons in the container nearby. Set the moving target ball on the floor in a clear, open space.
  • Ask your child to pick up one button using a strong pincer grasp (thumb and pointer finger).
  • Gently roll or move the ball slowly across the floor. Encourage your child to walk or squat as they follow the target.
  • Challenge your child to aim carefully and drop the button into the narrow opening of the paper cup while the ball is moving slowly.
  • Repeat the process: pick up a button, chase the moving target, and deposit the item inside. Encourage them to try different body positions, like kneeling or squatting, while aiming.

Safety Tip:
Constant and direct adult supervision is required. Buttons are small, hard objects and pose a choking hazard. Ensure the playing area is clear to prevent tripping while the child moves with the ball.

Block Tower Tug

Steps:

  • Help your child build a tall tower using heavy blocks. Use Masking Tape to secure a piece of String or Yarn tightly to the bottom block.
  • Place the finished tower about four feet away on a smooth, non-carpeted floor. Clear the path between the tower and your child.
  • Ask your child to assume a tall kneeling position behind the string. This requires good core stability.
  • Challenge your child to pull the tower toward them using the string. Encourage them to use both hands in an alternating, hand-over-hand motion.
  • Remind them to use slow, steady, and strong pulls. They must grade their force so the tower does not tip over when it reaches them.
  • Once the tower is rescued, rebuild it quickly. Try pulling the tower with only the non-dominant hand for a challenge.

Safety Tip:
Constant adult supervision is required. Ensure the playing area is clear of all trip hazards. Always supervise children when they are using string or yarn to prevent strangulation risks.
