The Balancing Button Pendulum

Steps:

  • Tape one end of the string to the top of a doorway.
  • Use the hole puncher to make two holes in the paper cup.
  • Tie the other end of the string through the holes to hang the cup.
  • Place five buttons inside the cup to give it a little weight.
  • Set up three cardboard strips as pins on the floor nearby.
  • Pull the cup back and release it to knock the pins down.
  • Try to keep the buttons inside the cup during the swing!

Safety Tip:
Ensure the doorway is clear of traffic and the string is not left unattended to prevent tripping.

The Tongs and Tower Reach

The Tongs and Tower Reach

Steps:

  • Place a bucket on a sturdy table or chair.
  • Put three bean bags on the floor next to a step stool.
  • Have your child stand safely on the step stool.
  • Ask them to hold the tongs with their favorite hand.
  • Challenge them to reach down and grab a bean bag with the tongs.
  • They must carefully stand back up and drop the bean bag into the bucket.
  • Repeat until all the bean bags are rescued!

Safety Tip:
Always ensure the step stool is on a flat surface and place it near a wall or adult for extra support if needed.

Balloon Waddle Race

Balloon Waddle Race

Steps:

  • Use masking tape to make a straight path on a smooth floor.
  • Blow up a balloon and tie it for your child.
  • Ask your child to stand at one end of the path.
  • Place the balloon between their knees.
  • They must squeeze it to keep it in place.
  • Have them walk along the tape line to the finish.
  • If the balloon drops, they should reset and try again!

Safety Tip:
Always supervise children around balloons. Broken balloon pieces are a choking hazard. If a balloon pops, pick up the pieces immediately.

The Paper Plate Ring Toss

The Paper Plate Ring Toss

Steps:

  • Help your child use the scissors to cut the center out of four paper plates to make rings.
  • Tape a paper roll vertically onto the center of a sturdy piece of cardboard to create a post.
  • Use markers to decorate the rings and the post with bright colors.
  • Place the target on the floor and mark a starting line with masking tape a few feet away.
  • Ask your child to stand behind the line and try to toss the rings onto the post.

Safety Tip:
Adult supervision is required while using scissors. Ensure the play area is clear of toys to prevent tripping.

The Winding Rope Balance Walk

The Winding Rope Balance Walk

Steps:

  • Place the rope on the floor in a long, winding S shape.
  • Use masking tape to secure the rope at both ends so it doesn’t slide.
  • Put a step stool in the middle of the rope’s path.
  • Ask your child to walk slowly on top of the rope, keeping their feet on the line.
  • When they reach the step stool, they must step up and down without falling off the rope path.
  • Challenge them to walk the path backward for extra fun!

Safety Tip:
Ensure your child is wearing non-slip socks or has bare feet to prevent slipping. Keep the area clear of hard furniture while they are practicing.
