The Yarn Star Weaver

Steps:

  • Glue two craft sticks together in the shape of a cross.
  • Wait for the glue to dry so the sticks are sturdy.
  • Tie the end of your yarn to the center of the cross.
  • Wrap the yarn once around one stick, then move to the next.
  • Continue this wrapping pattern until the star reaches your desired size.
  • Use scissors to cut the yarn and tie a final knot to finish.

Safety Tip:
Adult supervision is recommended while using scissors and glue. Ensure the craft sticks are smooth to prevent any small splinters.

The Tongs and Tower Reach

The Tongs and Tower Reach

Steps:

  • Place a bucket on a sturdy table or chair.
  • Put three bean bags on the floor next to a step stool.
  • Have your child stand safely on the step stool.
  • Ask them to hold the tongs with their favorite hand.
  • Challenge them to reach down and grab a bean bag with the tongs.
  • They must carefully stand back up and drop the bean bag into the bucket.
  • Repeat until all the bean bags are rescued!

Safety Tip:
Always ensure the step stool is on a flat surface and place it near a wall or adult for extra support if needed.

Ribbon Bridge Button Slide

Ribbon Bridge Button Slide

Steps:

  • Secure a large piece of cardboard to a flat table using masking tape.
  • Cut four pieces of ribbon, each about three inches long.
  • Tape both ends of each ribbon piece to the cardboard to create small, tight bridges.
  • Space the bridges out in a straight or winding line across the board.
  • Place a colorful button at the start of the bridge path.
  • Challenge your child to use their thumb and pointer finger to slide the button under each bridge.
  • They must push the button all the way to the end without lifting it off the cardboard!

Safety Tip:
Adult supervision is required. Small buttons are a choking hazard. Keep materials away from the mouth.

Pool Noodle Pincer Pillars

Pool Noodle Pincer Pillars

Steps:

  • Adult Step: Carefully use scissors to cut the pool noodle into four or five round discs.
  • Have your child place the foam discs flat on a sturdy table or the floor.
  • Ask your child to push one golf ball tee into the center of each foam disc.
  • Provide the tweezers and a small bowl of colorful pom-poms for the next part.
  • Challenge your child to use the tweezers to pick up one pom-pom at a time.
  • They must carefully balance the pom-pom on the very top of the golf ball tee.
  • For an extra challenge, ask them to move the whole disc to a new spot.
  • They must be very gentle so the pom-pom stays on its pillar during the move!

Safety Tip:
Adult supervision is required because golf ball tees have pointed ends. Ensure your child stays seated and uses the materials only for the activity.

Foil Pan Table Skater

Foil Pan Table Skater

Steps:

  • Use masking tape to create a winding track on a table.
  • Use markers to draw arrows on the tape to show the way.
  • Place two sponges inside the aluminium foil pan for hand cushions.
  • Have your child stand and place one hand on each sponge.
  • Ask them to slide the pan along the tape path.
  • They should follow the curves without lifting the pan.
  • Encourage them to reach far to the left and right.

Safety Tip:
Make sure the table is at a comfortable height for your child to lean on safely.
