Ribbon Bridge Button Slide

Steps:

  • Secure a large piece of cardboard to a flat table using masking tape.
  • Cut four pieces of ribbon, each about three inches long.
  • Tape both ends of each ribbon piece to the cardboard to create small, tight bridges.
  • Space the bridges out in a straight or winding line across the board.
  • Place a colorful button at the start of the bridge path.
  • Challenge your child to use their thumb and pointer finger to slide the button under each bridge.
  • They must push the button all the way to the end without lifting it off the cardboard!

Safety Tip:
Adult supervision is required. Small buttons are a choking hazard. Keep materials away from the mouth.

The Paper Roll Spy Tubes

The Paper Roll Spy Tubes

Steps:

  • Hold two cardboard paper rolls side by side.
  • Use masking tape to wrap around the middle of the rolls to stick them together.
  • Decorate the outside of your spy tubes using colorful markers.
  • Use a hole puncher to make one hole on the outside edge of each roll.
  • Thread a piece of yarn through the holes to create a strap.
  • Ask an adult to help tie the yarn ends so the strap is secure.
  • Now, look through your spy tubes to find specific colors in the room!

Adult supervision is required while using the hole puncher and yarn to ensure safety.

Pool Noodle Pincer Pillars

Pool Noodle Pincer Pillars

Steps:

  • Adult Step: Carefully use scissors to cut the pool noodle into four or five round discs.
  • Have your child place the foam discs flat on a sturdy table or the floor.
  • Ask your child to push one golf ball tee into the center of each foam disc.
  • Provide the tweezers and a small bowl of colorful pom-poms for the next part.
  • Challenge your child to use the tweezers to pick up one pom-pom at a time.
  • They must carefully balance the pom-pom on the very top of the golf ball tee.
  • For an extra challenge, ask them to move the whole disc to a new spot.
  • They must be very gentle so the pom-pom stays on its pillar during the move!

Safety Tip:
Adult supervision is required because golf ball tees have pointed ends. Ensure your child stays seated and uses the materials only for the activity.

Balloon Haircut Day

Balloon Haircut Day

Steps:

  • Blow up a balloon and tie it securely.
  • Draw a funny face on the balloon using markers.
  • Cut several long pieces of yarn hair.
  • Tape the yarn hair to the top of the balloon.
  • Secure the balloon to a wall or door using masking tape at your child’s chest height.
  • Encourage your child to use safety scissors to trim the yarn hair.

Safety Tip:
Always supervise your child while they are using scissors. If the balloon pops, pick up the pieces immediately. Broken balloon pieces are a choking hazard.

The Masking Tape Web Rescue

The Masking Tape Web Rescue

Steps:

  • Place a small stuffed animal inside a plastic basket.
  • Stretch several long strips of masking tape across the top of the basket in a web pattern.
  • Make sure the tape is pulled tight so it stays in place during the rescue.
  • Hand your child the safety scissors and show them where to start cutting the web.
  • Challenge them to cut through every tape strip until the opening is clear for the toy.

Always supervise your child while they are using scissors to ensure they stay safe. Ensure the basket is stable to prevent slipping.
