Mystery Yarn Foil Maze

Mystery Yarn Foil Maze

Steps:

  • Draw a winding maze on a piece of sturdy Cardboard.
  • Trace the path with Glue and stick Yarn on top.
  • Once dry, place the Cardboard inside an Aluminium Foil Pan.
  • Turn the pan over so the Cardboard is underneath.
  • Ask your child to press the foil using their pointer finger.
  • Follow the raised yarn bumps to finish the maze!

Safety Tip:
Always supervise your child while they are using small materials like yarn and glue.

Wet Paper Squeeze Mail

Wet Paper Squeeze Mail

Steps:

  • Tear the index cards into small, postage stamp-sized pieces. Encourage tearing with both hands for strong bilateral input.
  • Place all the torn pieces into the bowl. Cover the paper completely with water and let it soak for five minutes to create resistant pulp.
  • Adult Step: Cut a tight, narrow slot (about 1.5 inches long) into the container lid. Secure the lid shut completely with masking tape.
  • Reach into the bowl and gather a handful of wet paper pulp. Squeeze the pulp as hard as you can over the bowl to remove the water.
  • Hold the container firmly steady with your helper hand. Use your dominant hand to push the dense, wet pulp straight through the narrow slot. Repeat until the container is full!

Safety Tip:
Constant and direct adult supervision is required. Torn paper pieces and small wet pulp balls pose a significant choking hazard for children who still place items in their mouths. Ensure materials are used only as intended.

Heavy Foil Rock Decorate

Heavy Foil Rock Decorate

Steps:

  • Tear off a sheet of aluminum foil. Encourage your child to use both hands to tear the resistant foil into a large, manageable piece.
  • Use maximum hand force to crumple and squeeze the foil tightly. Form a dense, hard 3D rock shape (the ‘foundation’). Squeeze hard for heavy work input.
  • Place the finished foil rock securely onto the piece of cardboard base. This acts as a stable work surface.
  • Use the glue bottle to squeeze several small, controlled dots of liquid glue onto the foil rock surface.
  • Pick up one dry bean using a precise pincer grasp (thumb and pointer finger).
  • Carefully aim the bean at a wet glue dot. Press the bean firmly onto the resistant foil surface. Repeat until the foil rock is covered in textured dots.

Safety Tip:
Constant and direct adult supervision is required. Dry beans and small, dense foil pieces pose a significant choking hazard for children who still place items in their mouths. Ensure materials are used only as intended.

Wet Paper Squeeze & Drop

Wet Paper Squeeze & Drop

Steps:

  • Tear the newspaper into small strips using both hands. Focus on strong, controlled pulls.
  • Fill the bucket halfway with water. Submerge the newspaper strips until they are fully saturated and mushy.
  • Grab a large handful of wet paper. Squeeze the paper tightly over the bucket to remove the water. Aim for maximum effort!
  • Squeeze the remaining damp paper firmly into dense, hard balls (your ‘fortress rocks’).
  • Place the empty plastic container target nearby. Hold the container steady with your helper hand.
  • Use your working hand to aim and drop the wet paper ball precisely into the narrow target opening. Repeat until all rocks are delivered.

Safety Tip:
Constant and direct adult supervision is required. Ensure children do not place wet paper or small pieces of material in their mouths. This activity can be messy; choose a water-safe work area.

Squish Bag Stomp

Squish Bag Stomp

Steps:

  • Fill several Ziplock Bags about halfway with dry oats (or rice/beans). Ensure all the air is squeezed out before sealing them tightly.
  • Use masking tape to secure the filled bags flat onto a low, stable floor surface, like the kitchen floor or a sturdy rug, creating a short path or line.
  • Encourage your toddler to take off their shoes and socks, and gently step onto the taped bags. Use encouraging language like, “Stomp! Can you feel the squish and crunch under your feet?” (For safety, hold hands if they are new to standing/walking.)

Safety Tip:
Due to the use of small materials (oats) in the bags, constant, close adult supervision is essential. Ensure the Ziplock Bags are taped completely shut before starting the activity to prevent the contents from spilling or being ingested.
