Pom-Pom Pin Bouquet

Steps:

Secure the sponge firmly onto the piece of cardboard using masking tape underneath. This creates a stable and resistant base.
Place 2 or 3 pom-poms into the container. Challenge your child to thread these pom-poms onto one pipe cleaner, pushing them toward the center.
Hold the cardboard base firmly steady with your non-dominant hand (the helper hand).
Use a strong pincer grasp (thumb and pointer finger) to grip the exposed end of the pipe cleaner pin.
Aim the pin at the sponge. Use a strong, controlled push to drive the pipe cleaner straight down into the resistant sponge base.
Repeat this threading and pushing process until your colorful pom-pom bouquet fills the entire sponge garden.

Use masking tape to anchor the stiff foil shapes firmly onto the vertical construction paper, creating a textured sculpture.
Peel the stickers or sequins using a precise pincer grasp (thumb and pointer finger).
Aim the sticky item at the foil surface. Use a firm, controlled press to secure the sticker onto the stiff foil shape, feeling the heavy work input.
Continue peeling and pressing items until the foil sculpture is completely covered in colorful texture.

Resistant Cardboard Push Pucks

Steps:

Tear the cardboard into several small, jagged strips.
Fill the container halfway with water.
Soak the cardboard strips in the water completely until they are soft.
Squeeze and wring the wet strips hard to remove excess water. This is heavy work!
Squish the damp cardboard strips together into a firm, flat ‘puck.’ Press it onto the table.
Hold the cardboard puck steady with your helper hand.
Use a Q-Tip to aim and push a hole straight through the soft, resistant puck.
Repeat the pushing action until the entire cardboard puck is full of holes.

Resistant Gate Push

Steps:

Adult Prep: Use masking tape to secure the foam sheet tightly onto the cardboard piece for maximum stability.
Adult Prep: Use scissors to cut 8 to 10 narrow, short slits (about 1.5 inches long) randomly across the foam surface. Ensure the slits are very tight.
Encourage your child to use both hands to bend and twist the pipe cleaners into small, rigid shapes like tight coils, flat squares, or stiff hooks. Ensure they are strong.
Challenge your child to hold the stable cardboard base firmly steady with their helper hand.
Pick up one rigid pipe cleaner shape. Aim the shape at a narrow slit and use a strong, controlled push to insert the entire shape through the resistant foam gate. Feel the effort!
Repeat this forceful pushing and threading action until all the slits have been successfully filled with colorful pipe cleaner shapes.

Adults must handle the scissors for cutting the narrow slits. Supervise closely as children manipulate pipe cleaners, ensuring the ends are tucked or curled to prevent scratches while pushing.

Tension Gate Stick Pull

Steps:

Adult Prep: Use the scissors to cut a 3-inch wide slot into the container lid. Make sure this slot is wide enough for the craft stick to pass through easily.
Adult Prep: Tightly crisscross pieces of yarn over this slot. Secure the ends of the yarn firmly onto the underside of the lid using masking tape. The yarn should create a dense, resistant ‘gate.’
Press a large lump of firm playdough into the bottom of the container base to create a heavy anchor.
Help your child push one craft stick deep into the playdough until it stands upright and feels stable.
Put the container lid on the base. Push the standing stick until its top end is firmly jammed against the tight yarn gate. Feel the resistance!
Challenge your child to hold the container firmly steady with their helper hand to prevent it from tipping during the pull.
Use a strong pincer grasp (thumb and pointer finger) to grab the exposed tip of the stick. Pull the stick straight up and out through the resistant yarn gate.
