The Bubble Power Road Trip

Steps:

  • Use masking tape to secure a sheet of bubble wrap to a wall at your child’s shoulder height.

  • Tell your child that the stuffed animal needs bubble power to move up the road.
  • Have your child pop one bubble on the line using their pointer finger.
  • Once the bubble pops, move the stuffed animal slightly forward along the path.
  • Continue popping bubbles one by one until the toy reaches the top of the road.
  • Try using the other hand to help the toy finish its journey!

Steps:

  • Grab a plastic basket with holes on the sides.
  • Place a favorite stuffed animal inside the basket.
  • Take long pieces of ribbon and weave them through the holes.
  • Crisscross the ribbon over the top to trap the toy.
  • Ask your child to rescue the toy by unweaving the ribbon.
  • They must pull each ribbon completely out through the holes.
  • Encourage them to use one hand to hold the basket and the other to pull.

Safety Tip:
Adult supervision is recommended to ensure the long ribbons do not get tangled around the child.

Steps:

  • Place a large cardboard box on a smooth floor surface like wood or tile.

  • Place the weighted box directly in front of their feet.
  • Encourage them to bend their knees and push the box away using both feet.
  • See how far the cargo can go with one big push!

  • Stretch several long strips of masking tape across the top of the basket in a web pattern.
  • Make sure the tape is pulled tight so it stays in place during the rescue.
  • Hand your child the safety scissors and show them where to start cutting the web.
  • Challenge them to cut through every tape strip until the opening is clear for the toy.

Sponge Weight Release

Sponge Weight Release

Steps:

  • Place a large empty bucket on one side of the room. Place a lightweight stuffed animal target inside.
  • Fill a separate container halfway with water. Soak the sponge until it is heavy and saturated.
  • Encourage your child to pick up the wet sponge using a strong, whole-hand grasp.
  • Have them carry the heavy sponge over to the empty bucket/target zone. They must maintain stability while transporting the weight.
  • Once positioned over the target, challenge your child to squeeze the sponge as hard as they can. They must release all the water into the target bucket.
  • Repeat the process of soaking, carrying, and squeezing until the target stuffed animal is soaking wet or the child tires.

Safety Tip:
Constant and direct adult supervision is required. This activity involves water. Ensure the playing area is non-slip to prevent falls, especially during carrying motions. Ensure the child only uses the sponge and water as intended.
