The Sticky Maze Jewel Hunt

The Sticky Maze Jewel Hunt

Steps:

  • Place the cardboard on a stable table.
  • Use markers to draw a winding path from one end to the other.
  • Fold small strips of masking tape so the sticky side faces out.
  • Stick these tape loops along the edges of your drawn path.
  • Place several beads at different spots inside the path.
  • Give your child the tweezers to hold with their writing hand.
  • Challenge them to pick up each bead carefully.
  • They must lift the beads without touching the sticky walls.
  • Move the beads to a plastic container to win the game!

Safety Tip:
Constant adult supervision is required. Small beads are a choking hazard. Ensure the tweezers are used only for the activity.

Foamy Pan Treasure Search

Foamy Pan Treasure Search

Steps:

  • Fill the aluminium foil pan with a thick layer of shaving cream. Spread it out to cover the whole bottom.
  • Sprinkle a handful of colorful sequins all over the foam. Use your fingers to push them down so they are hidden.
  • Give your child the tongs and the empty plastic container.
  • Ask your child to use the tongs to search through the foam and find the hidden gems.
  • Once they find a sequin, they must pick it up and drop it into the plastic container.
  • See if they can find all the colors of the rainbow!

Safety Tip:
Shaving cream can be irritating to the eyes. Always supervise closely. Ensure your child does not place the shaving cream or sequins in their mouth. Wash hands thoroughly after play.

Putty Cord Threading Art

Putty Cord Threading Art

Steps:

  • Use markers to draw several small target dots randomly across the cardboard surface. Keep the cardboard stable with your helper hand.
  • Squeeze the hole puncher forcefully onto each marker dot. Punch 6 to 8 holes across the cardboard to create your weaving board.
  • Take a large lump of Theraputty. Use strong effort to roll the putty tightly into long, stiff, spaghetti-like cords.
  • Pick up one stiff putty cord. Hold the cardboard firmly steady with your non-dominant hand.
  • Challenge your child to use the stiff cord like a needle. Push the cord straight through one of the narrow punched holes. Pull it all the way through.
  • Continue threading and pushing the putty cords through the holes to create a colorful, textured design.

Safety Tip:
Constant and direct adult supervision is required. Theraputty/Playdough is a dense material and poses a choking hazard for children who still place items in their mouths. Ensure materials are used only as intended.

Twist and Drill Wall Work

Twist and Drill Wall Work

Steps:

  • First, use the masking tape to secure a piece of sturdy cardboard vertically onto a stable wall or door at your child’s chest height.
  • Press a large, thick lump of Theraputty or stiff playdough firmly onto the center of the vertical cardboard. This is your resistant drill target.
  • Hold the craft stick like a pencil. Encourage your child to use their helper hand to stabilize the cardboard next to the putty.
  • Aim the craft stick at the putty. Use strong finger pressure and a twisting motion to ‘drill’ the stick deep into the resistant putty.
  • Switch directions and twist the stick the opposite way to pull it out. Repeat this drill motion, filling the putty surface with holes.
  • Try putting all the sticks in, then pull them out. See how fast you can twist and drill all the sticks into the target!

Safety Tip:
Constant and direct adult supervision is required. Theraputty (or playdough) and craft sticks are small objects and pose a significant choking hazard for children who still place items in their mouths. Ensure materials are used only as intended.

Putty Spool Force Push

Putty Spool Force Push

Steps:

  • Adult Prep: Press a large lump of stiff playdough firmly into the bottom of the container to create a stable base.
  • Adult Prep: Twist 5 to 6 short pieces of yarn tightly into small loops. Embed these yarn loops halfway into the surface of the playdough, ensuring they are resistant.
  • Ask your child to hold the container firmly steady with their helper hand to stabilize the base on the table.
  • Pick up one craft stick. Encourage a firm, three-finger or pincer grip on the stick.
  • Aim the stick at a resistant yarn loop embedded in the playdough base.
  • Use a strong, controlled push to drive the stick straight through the yarn and deep into the resistant playdough. Feel the effort!
  • Repeat this action until all the yarn loops have a stick pushed through them. Pull them out quickly for extra heavy work!

Safety Tip:
Constant and direct adult supervision is required. Playdough, yarn, and craft sticks are small objects and pose a choking hazard for children who still place items in their mouths. Ensure materials are used only as intended.
