Description
Skills in a Box is a box full of skills designed by a pediatric Occupational Therapist.
The tactile system is the first system to develop in utero and is the largest sensory system in the body. The receptors are in the skin, thus, we perceive tactile input through our whole body. The tactile system gives us information about the object we touch (or that’s touching us) and helps us interpret the texture, shape, temperature, etc. of that object.
It’s an important system for our safety and it helps us learn about, and make sense of our environment.
Our Tactile Skills in a Box is designed to support the development of your child’s sensory system through play with a variety of textures. We’ve included some activity ideas you can do with the items included, however the possibilities are endless, and you can use the materials in this box to help your child explore their sense of touch based on their needs an ability to tolerate this sensory input.
Items may vary slightly from box to box, thus the picture will not exactly represent the ‘Skills in a Box’ you’ll receive.
