This activity promotes stereognosis (identifying an object through touch instead of vision), visual perception, and tactile input. This activity bridges the connection in our brains between what we see and what we physically feel. We use these skills for tasks, such as efficiently locating items in our backpacks without looking.

Skills: Core Strength (?) Strengthening of the muscles that work on stabilizing the entire body. Some of these muscles include the abdominal muscles, pelvic muscles, low-mid back muscles, and the hip muscles., Ideation (?) Ideation is the creative process of generating, developing, and communicating new ideas, where an idea is understood as a basic element of thought that can be either visual, concrete, or abstract. Ideation comprises all stages of a thought cycle, from innovation to development, to actualization., Motor Planning (?) Motor planning is the ability to assess a motor activity, plan and organize how to carry out that motor activity, and finally implement motor skills to achieve that motor activity.
Motor planning leads to the ability to carry out a motor skill automatically after enough practice.
This activity addresses core strengthening, motor planning, and ideation by having the child stand on a newspaper page (or paper bag) at all times. The newspaper page (or paper bag) will be folded after every round, so this gets tricky!
